Sanjeev Malhotra

Sanjeev is a visionary entrepreneur who combines a keen understanding of consumer markets and global consumer culture with an instinct for business opportunity. He moves fluidly across global boundaries and rapidly evolving international economies and is able to discern the cultural synergies that energize global commerce.

Having started working at the age of 16, Sanjeev has spent almost four decades in global consumer markets.  His core competency lies in his relationship instinct and a strong network across industries and geographies. His passion lies in identifying and launching ventures that are strong in concept but need insightful and robust go-to-market strategies to explode and realize their true potential.

He has been privileged to partner with the CEOs of more than 400 brands across segments and enjoys deep professional relationships with business and industry leaders. An acknowledged specialist in the emerging markets, Sanjeev acts as an adviser at one end and at the other connect innovative business ideas and people through his strong network to create value for his firms and clients.

These skills, interests and connections led him to found Aliagroup on his return to India in 1995 and built it into a niche marketing services group that has nurtured strong concepts into operating businesses. It empowers entrepreneurs and encourages innovation. This attracts young talent - making many of Aliagroup’s firm’s leaders in their verticals. These firms have partnered with some of the world’s biggest brand owners in creating immense value.

Sanjeev has realized value in Aliagroup by divesting three of its units, each a pioneer and leader in their respective verticals e.g.One of the group firms, Alia Premedia Services, is the largest Asian packaging and premedia organization with a global presence in Dubai, South Africa and Singapore. It has grown to comprise a 130 member team having the bluest of blue-chip clientele on its portfolio that include Unilever, Kraft, GSK, General Mills, Diageo, PepsiCo, L’Oreal and Nestle amongst others.

Sanjeev is a Harvard Business School Alumnus, (OPM) and has served as the Vice Chairman of the India Chapter of Point of Purchase International Washington D.C. He was the only Asian on the Global Advisory Council of the Boston - based business and design think tank - The Design Management Institute (DMI).  He has been a visiting principal faculty at (NID) National Institute of Design and Mudra Institute of Communication (MICA), Ahmedabad and at the Emory University in Atlanta. He is an invited speaker at global forums in Europe and the U S.Sanjeev is also an active member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) - World Presidents Organization (WPO)

A seeker, traveler and an avid reader, Sanjeev is also a fitness enthusiast. He plays golf, is a club-level badminton player and a marathon runner. He can often be caught evangelizing the benefits of distance running. He started running late, at the age of 46 and has since run more than ten marathons, including the uncurated 2500th year commemorative run in Oct 2010 in Greece, that retraced the original route from the village of Marathon to Athens.
